Events & the Global Summit

Investigative journalism is a craft passed hand to hand. Across the year — and once a year in one place — we bring the network together to trade methods, sharpen tools, and stand alongside colleagues doing dangerous work.

Programme highlights

Five tracks, one craft

The Summit programme runs in parallel tracks so you can go deep on the skills your next investigation needs — from data pipelines to legal defence.

Cross-border methods

Structuring multi-newsroom investigations: secure data-sharing, coordination across time zones, and simultaneous publication.

🔒

Digital security

Threat modelling, device hardening, secure communications and protecting sources under surveillance.

Data & AI in investigations

Scraping, entity resolution and document mining — and how to use, and stress-test, AI on real datasets without being misled by it.

§

Safety & legal

Pre-publication review, defending against SLAPP suits, hostile-environment planning and managing post-publication risk.

Business models & sustainability

Funding independent investigations that last: grants, membership, philanthropy and cross-border revenue-sharing.

Awards Night

Closing the Summit by celebrating the year's finest investigative work with the IAOIJ Awards and the Shining Light honours.
